Your Fist Day in Unreal

Interface overview 
So apparently we  will be using the place and Geo ones mostly. 



Game assets are here. 

Tool bar

Details Panel

View port Navigation
Standard is using the mouse 
Left mouse button- back and forth is moving. side to side is looking side to side
Right mouse button- can look in all directions
Middle Button-Panning

You can also press the alt key and use the mouse which will then be the nav keys like in maya

The third way is pressing the left mouse button and using the "WASDQE" keys to fly through the scene.

Placing and Manipulating Objects
Click and drag out of the Content Browser into the veiwport
To move the objects use the "WER" keys for translate, rotate and scale. 

To copy things easly you can hit alt+ and then use the move tool 
ADDING BOXES

Managing Content
To import files you click import in the Content Browser and then select the files you want to import. 

Basic material Creation
Click on 'add new' in the content browser then click on new material. Then it will show up in the folder that you are in and them name it. 

Have the texture that you want selected in the content browser that when you go to the material editor hold 't' then left click in the graph. 
To tile you can use a UV Coordinate Node hold down 'u' and then left click. Live node and live updates toggled at top will help when putting in values.
You connect the texture samples to what you need. 
Hit apply at the top. Then save the material in the project. (When the '*' is gone)
Then click and drag the material to the vase. 

Basic Lighting 
Click and drag the lights in and the move them around and in the Details you can chanage everything about the light. 

Using Blueprints
They can make it interactive and into a game and not just a pretty scene. 
Open the blue prints when you are in the content browser and at the top bar click 'Open level blueprint' from the blue print drop down. When making new nodes right click on the graph then pick out from the drop down. 
To find 'Toggle Visibility' You have to turn off the content sensitivity box. 

Creating a Matinee Sequence
At the top in the tool bar there is a tab that says Cinematics from the drop down pick the one that says 'Add Matinee' and then this screen will pop up.
Curve or graph editor is just like maya. 
Tracks tab will be used to add and see the groups and to also what kinda of groups they are. 
To add group right click in the Tracks tab, find the one you want then name it and hit enter. 
It will creat two tracks. Click the one you want then add key by hitting the add key button. Hold down crt+ left click and drag to move key. 


Set Dressing
Had alot of fun with this part!!!
Just making the scene and the story that would go along with it!



Packing the project
Go to the File drop down then to Packing project and then to settings or to what format you want it to be in. I am getting this 'PackagingResults:Error: Error Unknown Cook Failure'...

FIN (almost...) (need to get it packaged)
